Llanafan Fawr which is also 10 minutes drive away is served by an 11th Century inn, The Red Lion, the oldest pub in Powys and the second oldest pub in Wales. The nearest town of Builth Wells (Llanfair-ym-muallt) is situated 9 miles away from Tyn-y-Beili, the town has lots to offer including shops, tea rooms, restaurants, leisure centres, cinema, live shows and is just accross the bridge from Llanelwedd, home of the Royal Welsh Showground. The River Wye runs through the town and has walk ways alongside. Although the town is small there is a lot to do, visit the tourist information centre, by the Groe car park in the town, or see leaflets provided at Tyn-y-Beili.
